The retirement houses offer a safe, secure environment with the support of the Nursing Home and its facilities.

The 7 two bedroom & 3 one bedroom houses are spacious and compact and are finished to a very high standard. The houses are all fully furnished but can be left unfurnished or partly furnished if so desired.

All appliances are supplied i.e. dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer, electric oven & household utensils.

The houses are heated by electric underfloor heating with individual controls in each room.

For your safety or in the event of an emergency a Nurse Call Bell & Fire Alarm system are connected to the Nursing Home.

All Retirement Houses at Gowran Abbey Nursing Home are wired for security alarm if you wish to connect to a monitoring company e.g. Eircom Phonewatch. Security cameras are in place in the grounds and are monitored in the Nursing Home.

Petrol Station & Supermarket, Post Office, Credit Union, Doctor's Surgery, Chemist, Buther's Shop, Coffee Shop, Weekly Bingo, Gowran Park RaceCourse and Golf Club, Catholic Church

The services of the Public Health Nurse & Home Help can be arranged for you if so required.
Your GP will  be required to send a letter to the local GP re your general health.

Bus Eireann & Kavanagh's provide regular service to Dublin, Thomastown & Waterford.
A bus service operates twice daily to and from Kilkenny city.
There is also a local taxi service.

Allowances such as TV Licence, ESB units & Phone Lines are still available to you while you live in the Retirement House.
